Where does it say in the Bible it is better to be punished for your sins while you are alive on Earth than after you die?

Perhaps you are looking for the verses from the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:29-30), where Jesus (right after saying that for a man to look at a woman with lustful intent was the same in God's view as committing adultery with her) went on to say that if your eye or hand causes you to sin, it would be better for you to gouge it out or cut it off (even though you would then be blind or maimed) than to have your whole body consigned to hell after death.

(He later restated the same thought in Matthew 18:8-9, as well as Mark 9:43-48.)
